Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands, and arms.
A bright flash of light is used during the procedure, and it will feel elastic and light. Following treatment, some skin redness and moderate heat are common; these side effects often go away within an hour. Over the following 24-48 hours, pigmented lesions may darken; a week later, the lesions may flake off, resulting in an evening out of the skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you can see a vein blanching and disappearing or a vessel changing color that goes away in a few days.
An improved skin appearance can be noticed after the first session. Multiple sessions provide even better results. Your treatment will depend on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment, and energy settings.
Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure one month prior to treatment.
Results for sun damage and skin tone can be visible a few days after the initial treatment. The results are most noticeable after 1-2 weeks, and the skin will continue to look younger and more radiant over time. Multiple photoface sessions will enhance the outcome. Results for vascular therapies, such as those for facial telangiectasias, can be observed in as little as two weeks.
Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment. It is suggested to avoid direct sunlight and tanning.
